Can infants or children receive acupuncture?

 

Normally, infants and children do not need to receive needles in order to benefit from Traditional Chinese Medicine. In certain cases, acupuncture may be prescribed. Tuina massage is often used to work on the energy pathways in children up to 7 years of age.

 

When can infants or toddlers begin using Chinese Herbal Medicine?

 

Infants as young as 4-6 months can begin using Chinese Herbal Medicine in tincture form. We use a particular brand that is prepared in a glycerin base so it is quite pleasant for children’s discerning taste buds.

 

What conditions are treated?

 

Most common childhood conditions can be treated with tuina and chinese herbal medicines including:

 

-common cough/cold

-flu prevention and symptomatic relief of flu symptoms

-seasonal allergies

Can my teenager receive acupuncture treatment?

 

Yes, children 7 to 18 years can receive acupuncture treatment if they wish. tuina and chinese herbal therapies are also options for treatment although as they get older, acupuncture will have a more direct effect than tuina massage in treating certain conditions.

 

 

 

What conditions can acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine treat for my child/teenager?
